Is this the same thing as refinishing my Nashville floors?
No, and the difference is worth being clear about. Refinishing means sanding the wood down to bare, re-staining it, and putting new polyurethane on top. It is a different trade, it costs several times what we charge, and it puts your house out of commission for days. We clean the finish that is already on your floor and protect it. If your floor genuinely needs sanding, we would rather tell you that than sell you a cleaning that will not fix it.
My floors look cloudy no matter what I use on them. Why?
Almost always because the product you are using is the cause. Mop-and-shine cleaners and most grocery-store hardwood formulas leave a polymer behind on purpose, since that shine is what makes the bottle sell. Applied over and over, that layer builds, hazes, and eventually yellows. Cleaning it off is exactly what we do, and most people are surprised how much darker and clearer the wood reads afterward.
How long until I can walk on them and put the furniture back?
Walking in about 30 to 60 minutes. We ask you to hold off on putting rugs back down and sliding heavy furniture across for a day, so the protective coat can finish curing. We move what needs moving and put it back, and we will tell you before we start which pieces we would rather you empty out.
