Why Wet Cleaning Is Off the Table
Water sitting on a glued floor with any loose strips in it goes straight to the adhesive layer. A mop over a hollow area is putting solvent-free water directly into the one place the floor cannot tolerate it. What Can Be Repaired and by Whom
Individual loose strips can be lifted and re-bonded by a flooring contractor, and it is worthwhile work if the area is small. Look at the height of the house above the ground outside and check for crawlspace vents. No vents and a low profile usually means slab. Inside, a glued floor sounds and feels dead underfoot compared with a floor framed over joists, which has a small amount of spring in it.
Is there anything that stops the vapor?
Under an existing slab, no. That barrier had to go in before the concrete was poured. What you can control is what you add on top, which is why the water question matters so much on these floors.
