Dogs are fine as soon as it is walkable, though a full day off it is better if you can manage it, because a fresh coat is at its softest early. Cats will do what cats do and it has never been a problem.

Nothing heavy slides across it for twenty-four hours, and rugs stay rolled up for the same period. A rug trapping a coat that has not finished hardening is the single most common way a good job gets spoiled, and it is entirely avoidable by leaving them off one more night.
