A blob of slime abandoned overnight on a seam can put enough moisture into a board edge to raise it, and on engineered plank it can start the veneer separating. Scrape the bulk off with a plastic card, get the area dry, and do not soak it trying to be thorough.
Permanent Marker, Nail Polish, and Acetone
Marker often sits in the finish and often comes out. Nail polish usually does too. The thing that causes real damage is what people reach for next. Acetone and most polish removers dissolve a floor finish on contact, and a ten-second wipe leaves a dull patch that is now a hole in the coating. If polish goes on the floor, blot it, leave it, and let somebody deal with it who is not going to make it worse.
The Line We Do Not Cross
Dents from a dropped toy, gouges from something with a metal edge, and dark stains where liquid has gone under the finish and into the grain are all past what cleaning does. None of those are things a cleaning company can undo, and we do not sand boards down or restain them, so they stay. Being straight about that up front is the point.
