Nothing at all for a week. Then board edges that have risen slightly so the floor feels ribbed underfoot, a seam that has opened, or in the worst case cupping across a whole room. By that stage it is months after the visit and nobody connects the two events. Of all the ways a wood floor gets damaged by a professional, this one is far and away the most common, and it happens to people who were doing the responsible thing by hiring somebody.
The Other Half Is the Coating
A cleaning with nothing after it leaves the floor exposed again the moment it is dry. The water-based protective coat is what takes the next few years of abrasion instead of the finish, and it is renewable, which the factory finish is not. A quote that includes no coating is quoting a different and lesser job, and comparing the two on price alone is comparing two things that are not the same.
