If your floor looks worse at the edges than in the walkway, nothing about that is caused by feet, and changing how the glass gets cleaned matters more than changing how the floor gets cleaned.

Spray the cloth, not the glass. That is the entire change and it eliminates the whole problem in every room at once. It also uses less product and gives a better result on the window, since a saturated cloth cleans glass better than a mist does. The same rule applies to countertop sprays near a kitchen toe kick and to anything used on a mirror above a vanity in a bathroom with a wood floor.
What Is Recoverable and What Is Etched
Deposited residue and the soil bound into it come off completely, and where the coating has only been dulled a maintenance coat restores the sheen along that band so the room reads as one surface again. Where alkaline exposure has actually etched into the finish, that is missing material and cleaning cannot replace it. The usual permanent list applies too: gouges, worn-through areas, dark staining, and cupping. A refinisher sands and re-coats. We are not that, and we say so early.
