The compound has formed inside the wood cells, below the finish. Anything that could dissolve it would have to get through the coating first, and there is nothing that does that selectively. Refinishers sometimes lighten these marks with an oxalic acid treatment after sanding, with mixed results, and it only works once the finish is off. On a floor with an intact finish, the honest answer is that the mark stays.
Prevention Is Simple and Nobody Does It
Anything metal that sits on wood needs a non-metal foot under it: a felt pad, a plastic glide, or a cork disc. That is the whole precaution. The reason it gets skipped is that iron furniture usually arrives with its own feet already fitted, which look like they are doing the job and are the problem. Check underneath anything metal in your house this week and put something between it and the floor.
