The distinguishing test is the powder returning. Dead infestations leave holes and no fresh powder. Active ones keep producing it, and an active infestation in a floor is a matter for a pest professional today, not a flooring one at any point.
What Happens If We Find It
The technician stops and tells you. Cleaning an infested floor accomplishes nothing and adding a maintenance coat over it is worse than nothing, because it hides the evidence and makes the next inspection harder. We would not take payment for that. Get the pest question settled first, get whatever boards need replacing replaced, and then the cleaning is a straightforward job on a sound floor.
