The Wear Pattern It Creates
Grit sitting in a doorway does not stay in the doorway. It gets picked up on a sole and carried a stride or two into the room in both directions. That is why the dull patch in front of a kitchen doorway spreads into a fan shape. Clean the transition properly and you remove the source, which does more for the surrounding floor over the following year than anything you could apply to it.

If yours is loose, lifting at one end, or has a screw that has worked its way up, that is a carpentry fix and worth sorting out before the floor gets cleaned.
