And it is relentless, arriving every day for a year or more, so no cleaning routine gets ahead of it. That combination is why a floor next to a site can visibly dull over eighteen months in a house where nothing else has changed.
The Realistic Plan
Do not fight it while it is happening. Vacuum more often, keep windows shut on windy days, upgrade the filter on the system, and get the floor properly cleaned and coated once the site next door is finished. Cleaning midway through a two-year build is money spent on a floor that will be back where it started by spring. The exception is if the finish is already thin somewhere, in which case a coat now is protecting the wood and worth doing regardless of the timing.

Occasionally they will, particularly a larger developer with a community relations budget, and it is worth asking in writing early, because after the fact it is a much colder conversation. We have no involvement in that and it is not a claim we would support one way or the other.
Is there any harm in cleaning during the build?
