Oils, Diffusers, and Wax

Candle wax is different and easier: it sits on the surface, hardens, and lifts with an ice cube and a plastic edge. Never a blade, never heat, and never a solvent, because the cure does more damage than the wax.

Residue sitting on top of a finish comes off. A blush or a haze where a solvent has softened the coating and left it clouded is damage within the finish itself, and cleaning does not reverse it.
